Conditions Recipient is expected to:

The Bustamante Foundation Scholarship

Eligibility The award is available to Jamaican Nationals under 25 years of age, pursuing a BSc. Degree in Dentistry at the UWI, Mona campus.
Criteria The award will be based on:
- Academic performance based on the results of the previous year University examinations (minimum GPA of 3.0);
- Verifiable financial need;
- Active participation in extracurricular activities and
- Demonstrated leadership qualities, volunteerism and social involvement.
Method of Selection Short-listed candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprising of the donor’s organization and the UWI Development and Endowment Fund.
Terms and Considerations The following terms and conditions apply:
- Progress must be satisfactory during the academic period. At the end of each year a report on the candidate’s work with a certificate from the Dean of the Faculty must be submitted to the committee. Continuation of the scholarship is dependent on these reports.
- Following completion of the course, candidates must agree to work in Jamaica for three of the first five years. Failure to do so will require repayment of an appropriate amount for each year missed.
The Bustamante Foundation Scholarship

Eligibility The award is available to FIRST YEAR Jamaican Nationals pursuing a BSc. Degree in Tourism & Hotel Management or Business Management at the UWI, Mona campus.
Criteria The award will be based on:
- Academic performance based on the results of the previous year University examinations (minimum GPA of 2.5) or CAPE examinations
- Verifiable financial need;
- Demonstrated leadership qualities, volunteerism and social involvement.
Things to note when applying for the Scholarships and Bursaries brokered by UWIDEF:
- Applications must be made through the Office of Student Financing unless otherwise stated.
- Each recipient will participate in a photo shoot for Public Relations purposes. If this is not feasible, the recipients must submit a high-resolution photograph appropriate for publications. Please note that this is separate from and does not omit the requirement to provide a passport sized photograph as part of the application process.
- Each scholarship or bursary recipient will be expected to write a letter of gratitude to the Donor of this award and provide an academic resume.
