Volunteering with UWIDEF does not guarantee students a scholarship from UWIDEF. Scholarships are awarded based on their stated criteria. All scholarships offered by UWIDEF are independently administered through the Office of Students Financing based on guidelines and criteria developed with the donor for each award.
All scholarships have varied criteria. Some may specify Jamaican nationals and others may be open. Applicants should carefully examine the requirements detailed for each scholarship.

UWIDEF is the main fundraising arm of the university and brokers funding through donations, planned giving ad capital campaigns for the benefit of the Mona campus. Scholarships are a priority within UWIDEF’s mandate and efforts are made to broker awards each year to support students. UWIDEF has successfully collaborated with the UWI Mona Office of Student Financing (OSF) to consistently award scholarships brokered by UWIDEF since 1990.

I have applied for a student loan from the Student’s Loan Bureau, am I still eligible for a scholarship offered by UWIDEF?

I would like to establish a scholarship for students at the UWI Mona campus, how do I go about doing this?
Starting a scholarship fund with the UWI Development and Endowment Fund is easy!
The grantor (person/company/family/association/group making the donation) indicates their interest and specifies some guidelines for the scholarship. This will include area of study, tenure, value and criteria for the award, special condition etc. UWIDEF will draft an agreement specific to the scholarship offering and once this is signed by all parties involved and the funds transferred to our management the scholarship would become open and available for the upcoming academic year.
